Honduras Poem

Honduras Poem
By: Eduardo Torres
Banana exporter to the world;
Small, mighty, united
The little country that could
With the 2nd biggest coral reef in the world
They tell me it’s dangerous
And I believe them because
I have been friends of victims of insecurity.
They tell me it’s poor
And I believe them because I have boys having to sniff glue to not feel hungry.
And having answered so
I turn to those who sneer at this my city
I give them back the sneer and say to them.
Come and show me another country
With people so proud to be catrachos
A country so united and passionate about eleven men running around on a field
Trying to take a five star country to a world cup.
